Howdy Gardening Enthusiasts!
It's time again for Randy's perpetuation of the Aggie joke that says: "As a good Ag, if you do anything more than once if becomes a tradition." So, this Aggie is asking you to keep up the tradition with a visit to the annual Nelson's Water Gardens Annual Garden Party, this Sat., April 22. We've broadcast GardenLine live from this party for the past six years, so I guess this has become a pretty solid tradition.
Since it is a live broadcast of GardenLine, I suppose it goes without saying I'll be there from 8 p.m.-noon on the air. But this year, I don't have to make a mad dash elsewhere, so I should be hanging around for another hour or so after the live broadcast. So, feel free to bring your plant samples and pest samples by for me to look at, and we can even put you on the air with your question and/or sample. Just make sure you bring 'em in zip-lock bags, so we don't spread any diseases or pests while we're there. This is a working nursery, so we don't want to spread insects or diseases.
If you've never been to Nelson's Water Gardens and Nursery before, there's never been a better time, especially if you've been telling yourself: "This is the year I'm going to start a water garden or pond of some kind." This year's list of speakers may be their best yet. At the top of every hour beginning at 10 a.m. there is a class that should interest everyone and anyone.
10 a.m. - Chris Davidson, from Tetra Ponds, teaches everyone how to keep the water clean.
11 a.m. - Heidi Sheesley, from Treesearch Farms, will talk about the best plants for the area.
Noon - Ann Wheeler, from Log House Herbs, will teach what herbs can do for your garden.
1 p.m. - Brett Rowley, internationally-known koi breeder.
2 p.m. - Peter Nelson, from Nelson's, teaches the art of making disappearing fountains.
Remember too, Rolf and Anita Nelson are two of the top water gardening experts in all of the U.S. - that's right, we're talking NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED, and they are right in our own backyard. Nelson's Water Gardens and Nursery is located just off the Katy Freeway, Exit 742, one mile to the north. If you need further directions, call 281-391-GROW.
So, come see what water gardening has to offer you at the Nelson Water Gardens Garden Party. Ask me or the friendly and knowledgeable staff at Nelson's and we will answer all your gardening and water gardening questions. By the way, Nelson's grows water lilies and lotus that no one else in the business even attempts to grow, and they are always stocked with the best supply of koi and goldfish you could ever want for you water garden.
If you can't make it to the Garden Party at Nelson's this Saturday, then by all means see www.nelsonwatergardens.com
