So Many Topics, So Little Time...
|
There are so many topics worth getting into at this particular time of the year, and yet there's so very little to actually do over the next week because the weather is still uncooperative. Nevertheless, I was pondering what kind of email tip to do for our subscribers this week, and after looking through the GardenLine tip archives; I decided it was time again for one of those "cumulative reminders."
What that means is that I've compiled many of the previous email tips into a four-in-one party. Email questions are easily outpacing phone calls by a 5-to-1 margin, and fortunately for me, many of them get referred back to email tips we've done on these particular topics.
For example, it's obvious the Sunday Supplements in the newspapers are starting their yearly barrage of garden-related ads. Click below to read what we've always said in

Many of you are aware of our fertilization schedule, and my Anti Weed & Feed Maxims. A subject hard to give more than five minutes to at a time on the radio, so here's what I wrote about THE ARGUMENT FOR AND AGAINST ATRIZINE

This coming Monday is not only Valentine's Day but it's the day we prune our Roses (Hybrid Teas and Floribundas). If for any reason you are reading this on Thursday morning and are telling yourself you need to learn more about pruning of roses in general, get to the Rose Pruning Seminar put on by the Houston Rose Society. It's at the Garden Center at Herman park at 7:30 tonight February 10th, and you can get directions at the Rose Society Webpage www.houstonrose.org In the meantime, here's what I put together for email tip subscribers over 2 years ago, I affectionately refer to as
ROSES 101

And last, but certainly not least, not only is this the time of the year we prune rose and crape myrtles without fail, it's also that time when we try to "cheat" Mother Nature just a bit and get some tomatoes in the ground, despite the weather. And here's a great list of GardenLine maxims to keep in mind if you want a successful vegetable garden this year.

A final reminder: If you are interested in talking to me in person, don't forget that almost every Saturday from now until June, I will be doing one-on-one Q & A's with you at these scheduled appearances. (And it all begins this Saturday at the Home & Garden Show) http://kprcradio.com/pages/listenernewsletter/GardenTalk_02-03-05.htm
Until next issue, here's to
Great Gardening from the GardenLine, heard
exclusively weekend mornings from 8 to noon
on Talkradio 950 KPRC.
