Beer notes: Hard Cider, for the uninitiated, is a fermented beverage made from the juice of apples. Regular, or, soft, cider is unfermented and therefore contains no alcohol. The history of cider dates back to the first century B.C Roman soldiers, under Julius Caesar, discovered this drink while marching across the countryside in Southern Britain and brought it back to Rome. Popularity grew until beer became the preferred beverage.
